Sort of&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s Saturday morning and today marks the one week point since I arrived here from Ft Lauderdale. \u00a0I am making special note of this milestone as it&#8217;s hard for me to sit still for very long and I have been here for a while now and there is no end insight. \u00a0It&#8217;s not like me to stay put as I have a reputation of NEVER SITTING STILL, FOR EVEN A MINUTE! \u00a0 There you are. I HAD to say it. \u00a0&#8220;Bob, no need to say it, we already knew! Relax. Down boy, down boy!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Poor Brenda wakes up each morning to an onslaught from me that has much in common with Tigger from Winnie the Poo. \u00a0And that&#8217;s before she has had a cup of coffee.<\/p>\n<p>Me? \u00a0I like to get up and go. \u00a0And, that&#8217;s why I am struggling to stay put after a whole week. \u00a0And, that&#8217;s on top of being in Ft Lauderdale for two weeks before crossing over to the Bahamas. \u00a0TWO WEEKS in one place.<\/p>\n<p>Now that we are here all I can think of is where are we going to go next and what are we going to do while we are here. \u00a0&#8220;Brenda, want to go for a walk? \u00a0How about a trip to the grocery? \u00a0Want to go to the beach? \u00a0Let&#8217;s walk down the dock? \u00a0What? \u00a0You want to enjoy your coffee first? \u00a0Oh yeah, you just got up. \u00a0Ok, we&#8217;ll wait a while. \u00a0WHEN do you want to go for a walk? \u00a0TODAY?&#8221; \u00a0 Besides, I have already had coffee&#8230;two cups. \u00a0 &#8220;Want to go for a walk?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Brenda is very supportive of my blog and I sometimes find myself wondering if it&#8217;s because it takes me quite a while to write post and that gives her some peace for a little while at least. \u00a0&#8220;Bob, it&#8217;s been a few days since you have written in your blog.&#8221; \u00a0Hmm&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Brenda, want to go for a walk?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As I said, I have been here for a week and the weather has been just about everything we could imagine during that time, short of a hurricane. \u00a0It&#8217;s been fabulously sunny, torrential rain, overcast, dead calm and windy. \u00a0Yesterday Brenda and I headed out to empty the holding tanks (you don&#8217;t poop in your nest). \u00a0We left the harbor and headed over the banks for a few miles. \u00a0Along the way, a pod of dolphins visited. \u00a0It was just great. \u00a0They cavorted on our bow pressure wave for a bit and then disappeared as quickly as they came. \u00a0I find them endlessly entertaining. \u00a0<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5281\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-046.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-046.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-046-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>As quickly as they arrived, they were gone.\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5280\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-045.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-045.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-045-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>The harbor where we are staying is very protected, which is good as most anchorages in the Bahamas are open to the west which means that you have to move and find shelter when a front comes through with it&#8217;s clocking winds. \u00a0 A particularly strong front is coming our way and will bring several days of\u00a0west wind. \u00a0That&#8217;s not common as most fronts only bring west winds for a short time and this one will last several days. \u00a0It&#8217;s good to be here with 360 protection.<\/p>\n<p>The only entrance to this harbor was carved out of the limestone. It&#8217;s very narrow and about 15&#8242; deep. \u00a0It&#8217;s pretty daunting to approach it as it is so tight. \u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5282\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-048.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"933\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-048.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-048-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-048-600x800.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>If it weren&#8217;t for the waypoint to steer for on the Explorer Charts and the welcome sign at the entrance, you&#8217;d never find your way in. \u00a0Yes, there&#8217;s a marker but it&#8217;s tough to see unless you are quite close to the cut. \u00a0 A couple from another boat in the marina were surveying the cut when we arrived. \u00a0&#8220;Smile for the camera.&#8221; \u00a0Not hard to do at Great Harbor Cay, that&#8217;s for sure.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5283\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-052.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-052.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-052-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>There are plenty of activities here and on Monday nights the folks in the marina have a &#8220;drink and drift&#8221; where everyone ties their dinks together out in the harbor and float around. \u00a0More than a dozen participated with us. \u00a0It&#8217;s a nice way to get to know the folks on other boats.<\/p>\n<p>They also organize outings and there was a tour through the mangroves and a run down to the other end of the island, about 2 miles away. \u00a0 Quite a few boats participated.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5277\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-023.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-023.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-023-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>We wound our way through impossibly narrow passages in the mangroves that led to a beautiful section of shallows on the other side of the island.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5284\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-035.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-035.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-035-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>Everyone stopped for some beach time. \u00a0There were a lot of dogs in attendance and they seemed to love their time in the water together. \u00a0 Dogs are very popular with cruisers but most\/all of the canines aboard are of the &#8220;mighty dog&#8221; sort. \u00a0Large of bark but small of stature. \u00a0 However, from my perspective, small or large they track plenty of sand aboard. Yuck. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5278\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-040.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-040.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-040-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>When a front comes through, along with nasty winds, they usually bring amazing sunrises. \u00a0You know, the whole &#8220;red sky in morning, sailor take warning&#8221; thing. \u00a0And this, front inspired, sunrise that arrived in Ft Lauderdale just before Bill and I crossed was quite a sight. \u00a0 .<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5272\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-004.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-004.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-004-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>And, speaking of Ft Lauderdale, some of the boats that we saw there were pretty impressive. \u00a0Remember the pilot boat that stopped to compliment me on Pandora in Ft Lauderdale harbor? \u00a0He passed us again as we were making our way out of the inlet to cross. \u00a0I like the lines on these &#8220;all weather&#8221; boats. Very solid.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5275\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-011.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-011-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>I also saw a boat that Brenda and I had raced against in the Newport Bucket Regatta a while back aboard the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/?p=3313\">megayacht Marie<\/a>. P2 is a remarkable yacht. \u00a0She handily won the three day series. \u00a0 \u00a0She was built of carbon fiber in Italy in 2008 and was recently for sale. \u00a0The asking price? \u00a0A tad under $10,000,000. Too late, she was sold in early 2016. \u00a0However, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.charterworld.com\/?sub=yacht-charter&amp;charter=syp-6174\">you can probably still charter her<\/a>\u00a0with 9 of your closest friends. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5274\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-009.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-009.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/2-6-16a-009-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>All boats in Ft Lauderdale aren&#8217;t HUGE. \u00a0This lovely cruiser turned my head. \u00a0Although not quite quickly enough to get a close up shot of her. \u00a0I love the raised bow.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>Well, the day isn&#8217;t getting any younger and I had better get going. \u00a0 Besides, I really hate sitting around.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Brenda&#8230; \u00a0Want to go for a walk?&#8221; \u00a0Wait, she&#8217;s still in her jammies. \u00a0&#8220;Can I help you pick out something to wear? \u00a0I want to go for a walk.&#8221; \u00a0I won&#8217;t repeat her reply.<\/p>\n<p>Oh well, perhaps we can go for a walk later. \u00a0 \u00a0I guess sometimes I have to resign myself to sitting for a while longer. \u00a0 (look of sad resignation comes over his face). \u00a0Perhaps that will convince Brenda to &#8220;get the lead out&#8221;. \u00a0 No so far&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not that bad. \u00a0We are in the Bahamas. \u00a0No snow
