I need a nap."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am writing this post as we head home to CT from Baltimore after a weekend visit to our son Rob and his new bride Kandice who got married over the weekend.\u00a0 We had such a great time. \u00a0\u00a0Yes, I know that this is a sailing blog but trust me, I\u2019ll get to that soon, I promise.<\/p>\n<p>For the moment though, a few photos from the wedding in downtown Baltimore.<\/p>\n<p>The happy couple.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-036.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4782\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-036.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"933\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-036.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-036-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>How many weddings have you been to that included a dog in the wedding party, tie and all?<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-053.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4784\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-053.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"933\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-053.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-053-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>A good time was had by all, even in the elevator on the way to the ceremony.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-050.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4783\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-050.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-050.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-050-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>Anyway, great weekend.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to take a few days to recover from all the festivities. \u00a0Forgive the major digression. \u00a0Ok, thanks for staying with me.\u00a0 You\u2019re still there, I hope.\u00a0 Now, back to boat stuff.<\/p>\n<p>Along the way, I was able to steal a few hours to walk around the inner harbor waterfront.\u00a0 Interestingly, along with a number of marinas around the harbor, there is room to anchor in the small basin downtown.\u00a0 However, the restrictions on where you can drop the hook are significant and I understand that there is only room for a boat or two.\u00a0 It would be pretty annoying to schlep all the way up from the bay only to learn that there is already someone in \u201cyour spot\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>However, once you are there, by land or sea, it\u2019s quite a hopping place.\u00a0 With many inner city waterfront areas developed over the years, Baltimore was one of the early ones and remains a popular spot.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Pride of Baltimore II is good for a look.\u00a0 Pride I sank years ago, with the loss of several lives.\u00a0 Pride II incorporates safety features that Pride 1 did not have, as a result of the tragedy.\u00a0 She\u2019s a good looking ship.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4775\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-006.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-006.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-006-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>The \u201cdragon\u201d boats are a bit different and very popular.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-007.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4776\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-007.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-007.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-007-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>The lightship Chesapeake, one of the surviving manned lightships from along the East Coast, is there. She\u2019s not in quite as good shape as Nantucket, now a B&amp;B but fun to see, never the less.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-009.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4777\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-009.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-009.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-009-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Screw-pile_lighthouse\">\u201cScrew pile\u201d lights<\/a> were once common on the shifting sands of the Chesapeake Bay. With the exception of Thomas Point Light, near Annapolis, those remaining have been moved to waterfront parks and museums like this one in the inner harbor.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-011.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4779\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-011.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-011-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>There\u2019s also a WWII sub, the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/USS_Torsk_(SS-423)\">Torsk<\/a>, that is credited with sinking the last Japanese vessel in WWII.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-010.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4778\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-010.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-010.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-010-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>And a retired US Coast Guard cutter, the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/USCGC_Taney_(WHEC-37)\">Taney<\/a> an the last American vessel floating that saw action in Pearl Harbor.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-012.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4780\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-012.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-012-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>I walked around the waterfront with my friend Craig, who was also in town for \u201cTHE WEDDING\u201d and along the way we found our way up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.federalhillonline.com\/history.htm\">Federal Hill<\/a>, an earthworks built during the Civil war and used to protect the harbor then and in the War of 1812.\u00a0 It\u2019s an impressive pile of dirt and affords a remarkable view of downtown Baltimore.\u00a0 The panoramic view on my phone tends to distort things but, with a little imagination, you can get a feel for the spot.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-015.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4781\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-015.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-015.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-015-300x67.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-015-1024x229.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/a>Well, with the festivities behind us I\u2019ll again focus on Pandora and some of the remaining projects including the new glazing that I am fitting between the bimini and dodger.\u00a0 Last week I prepared a template aboard.\u00a0 It was a bit annoying to do as the wind picked up to 15+kts as the day progressed, making it hard to keep everything in place.\u00a0 I had to use extra masking tape in the wind.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4785\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-002.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-002.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-002-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>Once home I transferred the measurements and did some of the preliminary sewing in Brenda&#8217;s studio.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-004.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4786\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-004.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-004.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/8-10-15a-004-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>This week I\u2019ll head up to Wickford again to see if it fits (I&#8217;ll have my sewing machine in case it doesn&#8217;t) and install the zippers and final panel attachment points.\u00a0 It will be a nice addition to the boat when we are out in unpleasant weather.\u00a0 Without it, anyone at the helm when it\u2019s raining gets pretty wet.\u00a0 I prefer to stay dry and I KNOW that Brenda feels that way.<\/p>\n<p>The last remaining project, not including painting the bottom in September, is the swapping of the watermaker so that we have more production capacity.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if I am going to tackle that this year but I\u2019d like to.\u00a0 We\u2019ll see what the next few weeks bring. \u00a0 I have to be sure that we have enough water on hand to keep the washer going. \u00a0You know how girls like their jammies clean.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to believe that I\u2019ll be in Hampton VA in less than two months preparing to run Pandora to the Caribbean.\u00a0 Wow, time flies when you are having fun, going to weddings (that&#8217;s great fun) or are at least busy and busy I am.<\/p>\n<p>Whew&#8230; I need a
