Yikes, it’s hot. \u00a0Really hot. \u00a0Today it was in the 90s and really humid. \u00a0 \u00a0Here’s an idea! \u00a0I’ll head out to Block Island where it’s cooler. \u00a0Yes, that’s what I will do and will do so with my\u00a0good friend Craig is headed up to Mystic on Friday morning to meet me for three days aboard Pandora. \u00a0While the weather is supposed to cool down a bit here in Essex, it looks like Block will be considerably cooler, in the mid 80s. \u00a0I am counting on it.<\/p>\n

Speaking of time aboard Pandora (I thought that you would never ask) Brenda and I had a nice couple of days aboard last weekend when we headed out to Watch Hill and Fisher’s Island for a short but nice cruise.<\/p>\n

On Monday we lunched at the Ocean House, a great spot that I wrote about in my last post. \u00a0 What a pretty place. \u00a0 And yes, Muffy and all her pals were very much in evidence enjoying lunch prior to a rousing game of bridge. \u00a0I do know that bridge is a very popular game but I haven’t a clue as to what it is all about. \u00a0In any event, the bridge set at Ocean House looked pretty well healed and fresh into town from Boca, if you must know.<\/p>\n

Speaking of proper togs, to stretch the point a bit further, one of my boys gave me this great ensign for Christmas last year. \u00a0It’s nearly 6′ long. \u00a0Don’t look too hard at my stainless flag staff. \u00a0Besides, it’s the flag that’s worth noting. \u00a0Don’t you just hate the wimpy flags that you see on some boats? \u00a0\"\"<\/a>Speaking of a properly fitted yacht. \u00a0I spied this cruiser next to us in the anchorage at Watch Hill. \u00a0They are out of Mystic. \u00a0What great lines. \u00a0Very nice in a world of top-heavy\u00a0Tupperware\u00a0cruisers. \u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We went for a walk along the water and out to the coast guard station. \u00a0I can’t tell you how magnificent the homes with this view are. \u00a0Hard to believe that most are only occupied for a few months, or less, a year. \u00a0Yes, firmly\u00a0ensconced\u00a0in the .0001%.<\/p>\n

And, just to prove that we were there, Brenda took a picture of me taking a picture of her taking a picture of me… Well, you get the idea.\u00a0\"\"<\/a>The light house is very picturesque. \u00a0So nice in fact, that I have to include a close up just to be sure that it’s as nice as it looks from a distance. \u00a0 Yes, just as nice.\u00a0\"\"<\/a>After leaving Watch Hill we headed over the Fisher’s Island. \u00a0Fisher’s is probably one of the most expensive place to live on the east coast. \u00a0And that’s for a summer home. \u00a0Catch a look at this pad. \u00a0What is it that they say about people who live in glass houses? \u00a0 Also, how do they get the trees to grown square? \u00a0 Is that what they call a box wood? \u00a0 Hmm…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I’ll probably get in trouble for putting in this shot of my friend’s anchor windlass, lass. \u00a0 I had a pair of these once but they went off to college. \u00a0Now this is dedication from our friend, who will remain nameless. \u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And this is the same windlass in high gear. \u00a0Now, that’s teamwork. \u00a0if she is the windlass does that make him a windlad?\u00a0
