{"id":3872,"date":"2014-11-22T22:10:25","date_gmt":"2014-11-22T22:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/?p=3872"},"modified":"2014-11-22T22:10:25","modified_gmt":"2014-11-22T22:10:25","slug":"the-holidays-and-sailing-right-around-the-corner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/?p=3872","title":{"rendered":"The Holidays and Sailing, right around the corner&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s Saturday afternoon and I am working my way through chores and thinking about all that we have going on between now and when we head south to join Pandora in early January. \u00a0The holiday season is just so busy it&#8217;s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is less than a week away and Christmas&#8230; It seems like just yesterday that I brought Pandora north from Nassau.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I won&#8217;t think about how quickly the end of the year will be here. Somehow it always seems like the holidays and a brand new year are so far off in the future and suddenly&#8230; Well, they it is right in front of you. \u00a0Where did the year go?<\/p>\n<p>This may date me but this Monty Python clip somehow reminds me of how quickly things can come up on you, when you least expect it. \u00a0 Well, it seems that way to me at least.<iframe src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9ryPUJyQf6g\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe>see<br \/>\n&#8220;Bob, that was totally random. \u00a0What are you talking about?&#8221; \u00a0Ok, perhaps that was a bit of a stretch but work with me on this.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, it&#8217;s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is less than a week away and that Brenda and I\u00a0<span style=\"color: #444444; font-size: 14px;\">will be down in Florida in less than six weeks. \u00a0 At least I can say that the lawn is all tidied up and ready to sleep for the winter. \u00a0Heck, I even split some firewood today. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of winter, this shot of our &#8220;land home&#8221; was sent to us last winter by a neighbor. \u00a0I am sure glad that I wasn&#8217;t here to see it first hand. \u00a0Brrr&#8230;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/WP_000410.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3873\" title=\"WP_000410\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/WP_000410.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/WP_000410.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/WP_000410-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>I prefer this view.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2012-08-02-22.38.10-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3874\" title=\"2012-08-02 22.38.10 (1)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2012-08-02-22.38.10-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2012-08-02-22.38.10-1.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2012-08-02-22.38.10-1-300x214.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #444444; font-size: 14px;\">Yes, I love it here in CT in the summer but winter, that&#8217;s another story. \u00a0I hope to make it out the door in late December without having seen anything like a &#8220;winter scene&#8221; much less than a the sort of &#8220;Buffalo moment&#8221; that hit the folks normally famous for their &#8220;wings&#8221;, a title that they would probably prefer right now. \u00a06&#8242; of snow? And I am doubly happy that Brenda is willing to live them with me. \u00a0Time is short. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #444444; font-size: 14px;\">And to quote my good friend Bill, of <a href=\"http:\/\/kalunamoo.talkspot.com\/\">SV Kalunamoo from a recent blog post<\/a> when he put it so well.. \u00a0<em>&#8220;<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #444444; font-size: 14px;\">But, hey, life is not a race to the the finish.
