The tile museum was a remarkable place that chronicled the history of, remarkably enough, tile. \u00a0You’d be amazed at the diversity of Portuguese tile. \u00a0I wasn’t clear about exactly what the huge building that the museum is in but somehow there is a chapel inside it that looked pretty original and that it had been there for a long time. \u00a0Some of the information on the signs was in English. Anyway, there was a chapel. \u00a0Pretty amazing. Yes, looks like a castle.<\/span> And a view of a lovely cathedral. \u00a0 Several actually.![\"\"](\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/10-17-14b-008.jpg\" "\\"10-17-14b")
<\/a>There was also a special exhibit that featured contemporary pottery which was wonderful. \u00a0The work was on the theme of the sea. \u00a0Yes, I promised a “nautical theme” now and then. \u00a0This will have to suffice as a nautical “token” for today<\/span>. \u00a0 The pieces were large scale. \u00a0This ceramic crab is about 4′ across.<\/a><\/span>The room was packed with pieces and they were very well presented. \u00a0The centerpiece, sardines, a major commercial catch in these waters. \u00a0<\/a><\/span>We had a nice lunch in the museum courtyard. \u00a0<\/a>There was even a family of turtles in the courtyard fountain.<\/a>Where every you walk, it’s up and down, but mostly up. \u00a0This street was particularly charming. \u00a0<\/a><\/span>And, after dark, we walked by again. \u00a0Magical.\u00a0<\/a><\/span>We also walked a long way, up hill in both directions, to a castle. \u00a0That makes sense, I guess as by design, castles are ALWAYS up hill. \u00a0I understand that this is because up hill makes it tough for the infidels to bother you.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>There was even a resident falconer at the castle, with a beautiful owl who flew up into the trees in the castle’s central courtyard.<\/span><\/a>Pretty amazing view the folks that lived in the castle must have had. \u00a0I guess there were fewer buildings back then. \u00a0Good thing, as now there’s plenty of places to hide if you’re planning a siege.<\/a><\/span>There was even a “wine cart” called “wine with a view”. \u00a0You get to keep the glasses, which are plastic and very nice. \u00a0They will be a nice addition to Pandora’s fine crystal collection.<\/a>All that for four Euros each. \u00a0Not bad. The view from the seats carved in the wall… Yes, quite a view. \u00a0Does drinking wine help if you have vertigo? \u00a0Not enough research on that yet. \u00a0Perhaps I didn’t drink enough to be sure. \u00a0There’s always today…<\/a><\/span>Looks nice, yes? \u00a0I won’t talk about the gale blowing up the side of the castle. Brenda sat on the side looking into the wind. \u00a0Wouldn’t want her hair to blow into her wine, would we?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a><\/span>Loads of up and down. \u00a0Mostly up, both ways, it would seem. \u00a0It was a great day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
