A perfect spot."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #444444;\">It\u2019s Sunday morning and we are sitting in one of the most beautiful harbors in all of the Bahamas.\u00a0 As part of the Bahamas National Trust, certain areas are set aside as protected national parks.\u00a0 This approach protects wildlife from overfishing so these \u201cunspoiled\u201d areas can act as nurseries where fish and wildlife can grow unmolested.\u00a0\u00a0 Studies have shown that wildlife from these areas tend to migrate and populate other more heavily fished areas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, we are on a mooring here in the heart of the park enjoying the soft morning light.\u00a0 \u00a0This view from the ranger station says it all.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/1-24-13-0071.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2776\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/1-24-13-0071.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #444444;\">Each Saturday evening all visitors are invited to a BYOB cocktail party on the beach near the park headquarters.\u00a0 Brenda, Chris and I decided to join.\u00a0\u00a0 Actually, I said something like, \u201clet\u2019s go.\u00a0 It will be great\u201d.\u00a0 Getting them to join me was easy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The group was quite international with a few folks from Australia and others from various spots in the US and Canada.\u00a0\u00a0 All and all, a very nice group.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-23-14-005.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2777\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-23-14-005.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-23-14-005.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-23-14-005-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #444444;\">While we were on the island, we spied some local wildlife.\u00a0 This is the only island in the Bahamas where I have seen snakes.\u00a0\u00a0 We saw a pretty good one, some 3\u2019 long.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t get a photo of it.\u00a0 Brenda was very brave and walked right by it.\u00a0 However, she did have her hands held up and arms tight to her side.\u00a0 You know the look\u2026 Something like \u201cew, get me out of here\u201d.\u00a0 She was very brave.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And nothing speaks \u201cbrave\u201d quite like a hermit crab.\u00a0 These guys don\u2019t make shells of their own and as they grow they find an abandoned shell from some other creature and make it their own.\u00a0 This one was pretty big, with perhaps a 3\u201d shell.\u00a0 He was none too happy with our attention.\u00a0 He could cover distance pretty quickly.\u00a0 Funny guy.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-23-14-001.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2778\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #444444;\">The view of the harbor is very beautiful and with an unusually windless night very peaceful. \u00a0\u00a0Here\u2019s chris retrieving our wine, chips and salsa to share with the gang.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sailpandora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/2-23-14-004a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
